Dr. Weiner is professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences and professor of physiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and interned at Ohio State University Hospital. He was a resident in obstetrics and gynecology at Ohio State University Hospital and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospitals. He is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the International Fetal Medicine and Surgery Society, the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society, the Perinatal Research Society, the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine, the Society for Gynecologic Investigation and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. His research interests include ultrasound use in prenatal diagnosis and fetal therapy, hypertension in pregnancy, the effect of sex hormones on the vasculation, the control of myometrial quiescence during pregnancy and the effect of chronic hypoxemia on fetal development.
Dr. Weiner's research was recently recognized by the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the Society for Gynecologic Investigation. He has served as a reviewer for the most prominent journals in the field, including American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Obstetrics and Gynecology and American Journal of Perinatology. A frequent national and international lecturer, he has published over 180 peer-reviewed research publications, and co-authored several books, including the highly successful High Risk Pregnancy-Management Options and Pocket Book of Normal Values: Maternal-Fetal Medicine, both in their 3rd editions.
