The Program

The residency is a four year parallel program in obstetrics and gynecology that meets all requirements as specified by the ACGME and is fully accredited by the RRC. Rotations cover basic obstetrics and gynecology as well as subspecialties including:

  • urogynecology
  • gynecologic oncology
  • reproductive endocrinology
  • infertility
  • maternal-fetal medicine
  • general medicine
  • ultrasonography
  • genetics
  • geriatrics
  • emergency medicine

Additionally, residents spend half a day each week in a continuity clinic in the community.

There are twenty four (24) categorical resident positions (six at each level), with one preliminary position available in the first year. Residents train at three hospitals within Baltimore with a majority of time being spent at University of Maryland. Residents rotate to our affiliated hospital, Mercy Medical Center, which is located approximately one mile away. At Mercy, residents gain experience in obstetrics, gynecology, and gynecologic oncology. During the third year, two months are spent at Harbor Hospital Center, which provides an intensive experience in operative gynecology and laparoscopy.
