Program Goals and Objectives
The most influential years of learning for medical students come after graduation when they become residents. They usually spend three years applying their knowledge to real-life cases in a clinic or hospital. During that time, they receive guidance from supervising physicians, and hone their skills before starting independent practice. Studies have shown that the majority of graduating residents stay in or near their host community. Knowing that, Communities that host residency programs benefit.
University of Maryland Medical Center is dedicated to excellence in patient care, teaching and research. The core components of the medical center are the University of Maryland Medical Systems, the University of Maryland School of Medicine and University Physicians.
