Harbor Medical Center: Gynecology
Educational Purpose: The Harbor Medical Center rotation provides the resident with a gynecologic surgical experience in a community hospital.
This rotation is for PGY-3 residents.
PGY-3
Educational Objectives:
- Develop experience and proficiency in major gynecologic surgical procedures including:
- Abdominal procedures
- Vaginal procedures
- Laparoscopic procedures
- Develop experience and proficiency in minor gynecologic procedures
- Understand preoperative evaluation
- Develop skill and knowledge required for postoperative care
- Understand the differences in community versus academic institution
Demonstrated Competencies:
- Assistance with gynecologic oncology surgical procedures
- Postoperative care of GYN oncology patients, routine and emergent
- Management of complications of surgery
- Staging of oncology patients
- General knowledge of chemotherapy
