Harbor Medical Center: Gynecology

Educational Purpose: The Harbor Medical Center rotation provides the resident with a gynecologic surgical experience in a community hospital.

This rotation is for PGY-3 residents.

PGY-3

Educational Objectives:

  1. Develop experience and proficiency in major gynecologic surgical procedures including:
  • Abdominal procedures
  • Vaginal procedures
  • Laparoscopic procedures
  1. Develop experience and proficiency in minor gynecologic procedures
  2. Understand preoperative evaluation
  3. Develop skill and knowledge required for postoperative care
  4. Understand the differences in community versus academic institution

Demonstrated Competencies:

  • Assistance with gynecologic oncology surgical procedures
  • Postoperative care of GYN oncology patients, routine and emergent
  • Management of complications of surgery
  • Staging of oncology patients
  • General knowledge of chemotherapy
