Dr. Brooks is a professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. She received her medical degree from Howard University and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She then completed her fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Harvard University's Brigham and Women's Hospital. She is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology and a fellow of the American College of OB GYN and Fellow of the American College of Surgery. Dr. Brooks also serves on the editorial board of Gynecologic Oncology and as a board examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition to seeing patients and teaching, she conducts clinical research and is a noted author, having presented her work on cancer and gynecological problems at national and international meetings. Her research interests are in cancer prevention and health services research.
